BDSwiss Supports Cyprus Forest Fire Relief Efforts with Latest Donation

LinkedIn +

Joining the efforts of the local community to provide urgent aid to Cyprus’ forest fire victims and as part of its long-standing CSR commitment, BDSwiss has recently made a humble contribution to the Cyprus Government Central Bank fire relief fund.

In line with BDSwiss’ ongoing corporate social responsibility, the modest donation reiterates the solidarity pledged by the organisation with the people and Government of Cyprus as they battle the effects of the catastrophic fires.

On Monday, July 6, the Cyprus Forestry Department announced that four lives were tragically lost and scores of homes burnt down in one of the most devastating fires in the island’s history. The deadly blaze, which is believed to have started from a single fire on Saturday, July 3, 2021, scorched more than 55 square kilometres of forest land, forcing the evacuation of nine villages.

In the wake of the disaster, the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades established the Cyprus Government Central Bank Fire Relief Fund to support the families of those who perished in the fires and the farmers and homeowners who lost their crops and property. With its most recent contribution, BDSwiss seeks to support the provision of urgent aid and effective emergency relief to the affected communities.

BDSwiss remains committed to driving forward positive change through its contributions to global humanitarian efforts in support of local and international communities faced with the devastating effects of social and environmental crises.
